Does "flow" in life feel elusive to you?
You know, that sense of ease and alignment, when everything in your life just seems to align effortlessly and unfold perfectly for you? Like when you just feel so confident and full of trust, that you can really let go of worry and truly enjoy life in each moment - because it's flowing - and you can feel it.
One reason I share astrology and use astrology as a coaching tool with my clients is flow. Bringing awareness to the energetic currents at play in general and for us personally in our lives is a great way to start to tune in and work with them, and even harness their power.
But I'm keen to point out that studying astrology is still very much a mental process - something that involves the brain figuring things out - and many times, mental processes are exactly what is blocking our flow.
One of the most important things I teach clients is embodiment. Many of us have learned how not to be in our bodies in order to avoid uncomfortable or overwhelming feelings we don't know how to deal with, or as a safety mechanism.
The thing is, we cannot be in flow if we cannot be in our bodies, because if we are not in our bodies, we cannot receive the messages our bodies - the instruments that carry messages from source and inner guidance - are sending us. This means we are cut off from our own guidance system, which only creates more fear and disconnection, creating a vicious cycle of feeling confused, lost, abandoned, and unsupported, which in turn leaves us feeling anxious, depressed, worried, fearful, helpless, and disempowered.
Back to astrology....
Most people associate the planet Venus in astrology simply with love and money, but Venus is so much more than that.
When we want to create more flow, we want to work with Venus.
In fact, much of the work I do with clients is what I call "the Venus work," because it is so needed in today's society, and it's such a monumental game-changer.
Venus is flow. Yes, Venus, as ruler of Libra and Taurus, does rule love and money, relationships and resources, respectively, but the question to be asking is this: how do we work with Venus energy to access this love and money in our lives?
The answer is this: Venus rules the divine feminine and law of attraction - Venus is about how we energetically align with what we value and desire and magnetize it into our lives - that includes to what extent we are able to receive and hold those desires too.
And "the how" of Venus lies in just one thing: our value of ourselves. Because our self-value is the thing that determines the quality and quantity of the love and money that we attract into our lives, receive, and hold.
When we find ourselves wanting more flow, what we are experiencing is resistance (the opposite of flow).
We know we are in resistance when we find ourselves feeling stuck, trapped, disempowered, ineffective to change circumstances, like we cannot get what we want and need, helpless, unworthy, unlovable, not enough....
When we are in resistance, we are in conflict with ourselves - we are in what I call a "double bind." This happens when what we consciously want is in conflict with an opposing idea or belief within, typically beneath the surface of consciousness.
This might look like, for example, wanting to feel more love from our partner and increase intimacy, but deep down, we are actually afraid of being vulnerable and getting hurt, so our subconscious expertly keeps it from happening - but on the surface it seems like it's the other person or circumstances that are the issue.
Or maybe we desire more money and abundance, but as soon as money comes in, the car breaks down and all the extra money ends up going right back out. And the pattern keeps repeating, over and over, just with different fires to put out, but with the same results - the extra money keeps going away. There is an internal conflict within you between your conscious desire for more money, and something below conscious awareness that says somehow it's simply not safe to have more money - more life force energy, more resources, more power.
Make no mistake, when it comes to your nervous system's sense of safety and the unconscious limiting beliefs driving that, the subconscious will always win out over our conscious desires and efforts.
To restore flow, we're going to have to let go.
That means being brave. But more than that, it means learning to be in the world in an entirely new way - a way where you value yourself, and are a safe space for yourself, and broadcast that new vibration and energetic frequency.
This is the Venus work. It comes when you begin to focus on allowance and acceptance of yourself and your feelings - when you begin to respect yourself - because when you do this, you begin to create a safe space for you to stay in your body.
This is what gets you into what I call the "upward spiral," or "positive reinforcement loop."
Venus says "as within, so without." It's the law of attraction - "like attracts like."
When you truly shift the energy in your inner realm, your outer experience of life must shift to match. It's an energetic law.
The problem is, most of us think we are shifting our energy and valuing ourselves when we simply are not. Energetically, we aren't doing anything differently. Nothing in our inner realms has changed, and we can see that clearly because nothing in our outer experience changes either.
To truly shift when we are in resistance and feeling stuck and blocked, we are inevitably going to have to find a way to let go of something we don't feel like we can let go of, whether it's an old way of getting our needs met, an old identity, a belief about ourself, a truth we don't want to face, an attachment to the past or to future potential, a relationship, a person, or a dream. And that means we're probably going to have to grieve that loss.
But that willingness to let go is the moment that allows the magic in, because it's the moment you set yourself free from that torturous double bind and return to flow.
Just recently, I experienced this myself.
A really big unwanted came up in my life recently. And at first, I was in major resistance - almost to the point of shut down. It brought up old trauma and my first response was the same old, "no, no, no....this cannot be happening; this cannot happen....." My body wanted to collapse in on itself, to fall into "freeze" again (the third sympathetic nervous system response when "fight" and "flight" are unavailable).
I panicked. Body frozen, mind racing. I felt helpless. I cried.
But then, after a couple of days, something within me shifted.
I was able to accept what was now in front of me, and from that place caught a glimmer of a direction, an idea of how to move forward. I tuned into my body and my heart, and then went all in.
As soon as I did, the pathway started opening up in front of me. It was clear that this was my way forward. Things were lining up so easily.
As I moved through the real-world steps I now had to take that involved packing my things up from my lover's house to drive cross-country with no return date, the grief began showing up, bubbling up from deep within.
This is where I had to be brave and show up for myself with more self-love than ever before. This is where I had to not collapse, not dissociate, not abandon myself, and be in full allowance and acceptance - doing the Venus work in every moment, with every breath, with every surge of bone-crushing grief, which after a few weeks, began to subside, to be replaced by new life-force energy, right in alignment with the astrological transits - in divine right timing.
Follow your heart and the signs align.
The astrology is a valuable guide, but your heart is the key.
Follow your heart and the signs align. Your heart is what holds the key to your flow. Remember that the mind is a tool in service to the heart. The heart is the connection to your inner guidance, your higher guidance, your soul. Your heart is the part of you that knows the way, and the only way you can access it is by being embodied in the present moment and connected to yourself in allowance and acceptance. This is what opens you to receive the signal and the information.
When you step into flow by following your heart, the signs will align.
The synchronicity, the signs that you are on the right path - they will show up if you are embodied, heart-centered, and present in the moment. They will show up if you are tuning in to the flow rather than forcing an agenda.
Many times my signs come through animals.
Recently, I've been seeing pairs of bunnies - they happen to be prolific in the neighborhood I'm in right now. Rabbits are of course associated with spring and fertility, but also with night and the moon - intuition - and even prosperity. They are reminders to trust instincts, and harbingers of new beginnings. But seeing two playing and jumping over each other more than once? Well, that must be a sign that it's time to embrace a more playful attitude in life, right?
However, the other morning, it wasn't just the playing bunnies I saw. There was a bullfrog, hummingbirds, and nesting martins as well, all right there in front of me at the same time.
The bullfrog says projects are assured success, but you must keep moving forward (that particular phrase has been a recurring theme of the past few weeks too). Furthermore, bullfrog is about a breakthrough and healing, specifically around generational/ancestral trauma, reclaiming personal power, and inner authority, self-assertion, and being heard.
Hummingbirds are also a good omen, symbolizing drinking in the sweetness of life, being joyful & playful in the present moment, and even going on journeys and traveling great distances.
Martins show up when we are about to "take flight" on a project or dream, and symbolize abundance.
Following your heart is the key to flow.
The signs wouldn't be showing up if I hadn't been able to step out of resistance, into flow, and follow my heart.
If I hadn't been brave and courageous, if I had not been able to come back into my body and find acceptance so that I could get that glimpse of a way forward, I would've stayed stuck in that double bind, in that painful place of "no, no, no....."
There truly was flow and life on the other side of that, but in that initial, painful, unwanted moment, I could not see it, sense it, or feel it. There was only black. But that was just a step on the journey, not the end, not the destination.
Remember that you are a powerful creator, and you create from your energetic vibration - your emotions - which are generated by your default thinking habits, which are generated by your beliefs.
It's all energy. As within, so without.
Start creating the allowance and acceptance within, and you're going to start untangling the double binds that have you been keeping you tied up, and moving into more self-respect, more embodiment, and more flow, which in turn is going to be coming from a place of more self-value, meaning your going to be able to attract, receive, and hold even more good.
And that's the kind of flow we're all after in life, right?
And it's about doing the healing, belief, and shadow work to clear the fear and blocks that have been holding you back in a safe and supported container.

4 Major Astrological Energies at play in 2023....
1. Saturn & Pluto Shifting Signs in March, Uranus & Neptune by May 2025.
March to December 2023 is about stepping willingly into the fires of transformation, which means fully letting go of our attachment to the past, the present, and even outdated ideas about our future that are no longer in alignment. Resistance will only cause more discomfort and suffering - this is a "let go or be dragged" style situation. In March, both Pluto & Saturn changed signs - while Pluto is using the rest of 2023 to fully shift into Aquarius, Saturn in Pisces til 2025 is acting as a "bridge" from the old era to the new, as the other two outer planets, Uranus and Neptune will follow suit, changing signs by May 2025. Outer planets have longer orbits that correspond to generational influences. With all three changing signs between March 2023 and May 2025, we are in transition from one era to another. With Pluto, planet of death and rebirth transformation and letting go, using the March through December 2023 to change signs and spending that entire time in T-square to the nodes of future and past, destiny and fate, increase and release, the driving undercurrent of the better part of this year is about fully releasing the past and embracing change and transformation.
2. Venus Retrograde in Leo Summer/Fall 2023
Black Moon Lilith, the shadow of the wild feminine, has been in Leo since January, and now Mars and Venus are there too, prepping us for a game-changer of a Leo season that features Venus retrograde there until October (Our Lady of Love & Money's longest stay in the sign since 1812), and retrograde (it only happens every 18 months) from 7/22 to 9/3. Venus and BML will depart the sign together in early October, Venus returning to the skies rising as the morning star, her more fierce persona. Think: a journey to face the shadow, reclaim the self-value that is your birthright, and return whole unto yourself, ruler of both realms - shadow and light.
~ Saturn RX in Pisces, 6/17 to 11/4, along with Neptune RX in Pisces, 6/30 to 12/6, will be reality-checking us with a larger goal of helping us to truly "make the ideal real," - bring source inspiration through our minds and bodies and into physical reality. To do that, we have to cut the crap, ditch the fantasizing and escapism, and start showing up embodied and taking the real-world action steps. (Pluto and Venus are running support, helping us let go of everything that is rotten, outdated, or not in alignment with our full truth, face the shadow and shame and reclaim our sense of self-value, and reconnect with our inner truth and core desires and values.)
3. North Node Into Aries; South Node Into Libra July 18th, 2023
North node of appetite, increase, and destiny moves into Aries 7/18 - it's been in Taurus since January 2022, and will be in Aries until January 2025, aiding Saturn in moving us through this major collective transition from one era to another as all 3 outer planets shift signs. This fuels our pioneering spirit. Chiron the wounded healer is there too - this is about healing the wound around our right to exist and stand up and be seen, heard, and counted in the world. This isn't about being self-centered at the expense of others, although we may see that shadow side play out during this time, it's about releasing the shadow side of Libra and stepping into the highest expression of Aries. That means healthy sense of self, courage, individuality, and leadership. It means self-assertion. It also means learning to do this without running over the needs of others, while still exercising cooperation, diplomacy, and tact, and creating harmony and balance.
4. Outer Planet "Link Up" & Kite Formation Late August to Mid-November 2023
Okay, so this one is playing loose - and by that I mean these guys are hovering "in range" of making these aspects, but they aren't landing them to the exact degree. That combined with the fact that we are talking about all outer planets means this one is very generalize and also very subtle, but it's still there, working away in the ethers, and worth mentioning. Remember, the outer planets are the three that lie beyond Saturn, only visible with modern technology, that are so far from earth that they have considerably bigger orbits and longer transit times, making them generational influences.
While Saturn has a 2 1/2 year sign transit time, it takes Uranus a full 7 years, Neptune 13 years, and Pluto anywhere from 16 to 20 years, depending on where it's at in it's elliptical orbit path. These three planets are all currently in the 3rd decan, or final 10 degrees, of their respective signs - like I mentioned earlier, between March 2023 and May 2025 they will all complete their sign changes, and that's why we are collectively in a transition from one era to another right now.
With Uranus in the final degrees of Taurus, Neptune in the final degrees of Pisces, and Pluto in the final degrees of Capricorn (with one pass completed - it's only revisiting the last bit of Capricorn until mid-January for a "clean-up round"), these planets are are all in sextile (a 60° angle) to each other - Uranus sextile Neptune, and Neptune sextile Pluto, and then Pluto linking back up to Uranus to form a very loose trine aspect - 120° - to complete the triangle.
This also means that anything opposing the center point of this triangle, Neptune in Pisces, will thus form a 2nd larger triangle between itself, Uranus, and Pluto, turning the whole thing into a kite formation in the heavens, a dynamic energy that is like a bow being drawn back to loose an arrow of destiny, with what we are aiming for being represented by Neptune in Pisces flanked by Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn, and the tension being created by the the planet opposing Neptune in Pisces - whatever is transiting Virgo.
And the Virgo vibes start heating up as soon as Mars lands there in July, as Mars is the action planet, initiator, and instigator. But the kite formation doesn't get going until Mars gets in range of the outer planets, August 21st to 24th. Then this energetic dynamic kicks up again with the sun 9/15 to 9/20, with Mercury 8/14 to 9/2 (stations retrograde 8/24 and direct 9/16) and again 9/27 to 10/4, and finally with Venus in 10/25 to 11/8.
The tension point of the kite - the arrow drawing back, will be formed as the planets transiting Virgo late August to mid-November one by one form the release point of this energetic dynamic. To work the kite, we must work the Virgo-Pisces opposition.
The outer planets (Uranus and Pluto supporting Neptune) are forming the point of the arrow - the direction of the aim and of forward motion.
This is about a spiritual awakening and the connectedness of all life. It's about higher consciousness and the evolutionary leap humanity is collectively undergoing. Pisces is a water sign and a very spiritual sign full of empathy and compassion, and along with modern ruler Neptune, not only rules water as in "we are all one like drops of water in the ocean," but also literal water, water as a resource, and oil too. Think about this energetic dynamic at play in league with Uranus in Taurus - innovating how we feel secure and our relationship to resources and environment (like the earth itself) - and Pluto in Capricorn - collapsing what is rotten in big systems globally like government and banking - we start to get a better picture of the monumental change that is happening on a global level right now.
The Virgo planets as they move through, the sun, light of consciousness, and each personal planet, Mercury, Venus, and Mars (not in that order), form the tail of the kite, and one-by-one will be the role you play as an individual in this raising of collective consciousness and spiritual awakening.
This is where we "do the work," and zoom in on embodying the higher qualities of Virgo by itself and as part of the Virgo-Pisces axis.
The Virgo-Pisces axis balances the mundane and the spiritual - both signs are about healing. "Working Virgo," in our personal lives to contribute to the evolution of humanity to higher consciousness might look like focusing in on the sacred in the mundane, acts of practical service, and themes like the body as a temple, cleanliness in relationship to godliness, and honoring the sacred in the mundane. Our spiritual healing contributes to our physical healing - not just as individuals, but as communities, societies, cultures, and nations - and our physical healing contributes equally to our spiritual awakening and evolution of consciousness. They are intrinsically tied together.
As I write this, just a week prior to the July 3rd full moon, we are already in the transition, doing the "letting go" of attachments and old consciousness that Pluto T-square the nodes is demanding of us through December. Pluto rules the underworld and is associated with regeneration and the cycle of destruction and creation, so working with Pluto means fully allowing the death of the old so that energy can be transmuted to something new - think surrendering the old to the flames so it can be reborn anew, phoenix-style.
Also at this time, we are in the pre-shadow of Venus retrograde as Venus makes her first of three passes over the territory she will move backward through 7/22 to 9/3. We can consider the six weeks of Venus retrograde to be a time of "personal renaissance," or our cosmically ordained "summer glow-up," but from the inside-out. As with all Venus retrogrades, in the mundane realm, stay away from big, permanent changes to style, hair, body, and definitely no plastic surgery or tattoos. Instead, focus on a "glow up" of the inner realm - this is about facing the shadow, and any lingering shame or lack of self-worth that has been keeping you from fully aligning with your heart's desires and shining brightly in full authentic self-expression. This one's in Leo, an enthusiastic, creative, fire sign, and the sign of the heart and inner child - you cannot go wrong if you keep heart-centered and move through life from that place. Shame cannot survive your light, so just keep feeding that heart flame with love. This is one of the most important shifts I teach my coaching clients, and it's something you have to practice consciously and consistently until it becomes your new default. Do this one thing and you will see positive changes begin to happen in your life - as within, so without.
The north node into Aries 7/18 is only going to add more fire. Remember to stay in the space of leadership and creating win-wins with your self-assertion, vim, and vigor. If it's about your right to exist, it also has to be about everyone's right to exist. There is either existence, or there is not. It's all energy. Focus on your healthy boundaries first. That's what makes you a safe space for yourself and allows you to feel safe "doing you," and still feel safe allowing others to be themselves at the same time. It's an energy of permission, rather than protection, and that's made possible when you are coming from a heart-centered space of empowerment and in your inner authority. (Venus retrograde is helping set you up with a value/self-value uplevel, so don't freak out if July/August feels a bit bumpy with the north node freshly into hot-to-trot Aries and Venus still in review-mode. It's all working out in divine right timing!
By late August, beginning this Virgo/outer planet kite formation that will carry us all the way through mid-November (past when Saturn is direct moving us forward with "making the ideal real"), we have Mars in Virgo coming into opposition with Neptune, beginning the march of the personal planets and sun through this "hot seat" in the heavens. This is when we are going to shift our focus to consciously working the high side of Virgo energy and balancing the Virgo-Pisces axis of healing in our lives, each playing our own unique role contributing to the larger evolutionary leap of humanity. Virgo is a sign of organization, tending to details, acts of service, devotion, cleanliness, refining, caution, modesty, routine, health, and diligence. Keep it simple and practical. Less is more. Hard work pays off, and setting up systems and routines around daily life and health that are preventative and streamline will be pure magic.

The new moon in Gemini lands Saturday, June 17th at 21:37 PDT (that's Sunday June 18th at 00:37 EDT), at 26° Gemini.
This is our new beginning through the energetic prism that is Gemini for 2023. In six months, at the late November Gemini full moon, we'll get to harvest what we plant now.
And right now, what we plant is infused with the MAGIC of the cosmos. In this post I'm going to tell you why June's new moon has the potential to be so magical, so keep reading.
The ruler of this Gemini new moon is Mercury, known as both "the messenger," and the "Magician."
Gemini rules the mind, information, thoughts, and communication.
Gemini is a mutable sign, known for being quick and changeable - mercurial.
To get a better understanding of this energy, think of The Magician in the major arcana of the tarot.
"Meaning: Originality, creativity, skill, will-power, self-confidence, dexterity and slight of hand. It is about grasping the unseen around you, and harnessing it to become reality." ~Shadowscapes Tarot
Think of yourself as the alchemist of your life now, the magician, standing at the center of your own universe, harnessing the energetic currents at play and elements as they swirl around you.
You are the vessel of creation, with feet rooted into the earth and crown connected to source inspiration above - you are the ones whose inspirations and actions mix in the heart and flow through into action that makes dreams reality.
See yourself as the alchemist of your life now.
But there's more to this new moon than just being ruled by Mercury that makes it magical.
Venus and the Gemini New Moon.
As the new moon is exact this weekend, Mercury in Gemini makes a beneficial alignment to Venus now in Leo.
Venus rules love and money, relationships and resources (Libra and Taurus, respectively) but by way of just one thing: self-value. That's because Venus is the planet of pleasure, desire, and attraction, and the law of attraction says "like attracts like." We don't get what we want, we get that of which we truly , deep down, in our bones, feel like we are actually deserving and worthy.
It's an alignment thing, and there's no faking it.
This means that this particular Gemini new moon is blessed by Venus - and Venus in Leo no less.
Venus landed in Leo on June 5th and will be there until early October - the longest Venus has graced the sun's sign of creative self-expression and the heart since the early 1800's. She is spending four months in the sign because she will be retrograde there from late July into September. Venus retrograde is about journeying to face the shadow within so we can reclaim our inherent sense of self-worth from whatever has gotten us tangled and out of sorts. We can consider the entirety of Venus in Leo this year as our own personal renaissance - a time to come home to ourselves and who we truly our in our hearts - a reawakening and rebirth.
Jupiter-Saturn and the Gemini New Moon.
This new moon has a couple of powerful backers working behind the scenes - Jupiter and Saturn.
It might not feel like it right now, because just hours before this new moon is exact, Saturn stations retrograde at 7° Pisces, but this is a good thing. Let me explain.
Saturn just moved into Pisces for a 2 1/2 year transit back in March, and in the big picture, this 2 1/2 year period is a transition period, as we have Pluto making it's move into Aquarius (til 2044) all this year, then by spring 2025, we'll have Saturn into Aries, Uranus into Gemini, and Neptune into Aries, completing all of the outer planet sign changes that began with Saturn into Pisces and Pluto into Aquarius this year.
Saturn makes things real, and Pisces is the realm of dreams and ideals, of the connection of all of life. So when we have Saturn in Pisces, we know that part of this transit is about helping us make our dreams reality, for the highest good of all. And part of that is going to be about Saturn showing us where we are being unrealistic, escapist, off-course, and off in fantasy land.
Saturn is about the 3D world, and a planet of karma. Retrogrades are about karma too. So Saturn retrograde is always going to involve karmic themes.
But remember that Saturn is a mentor and a teacher that wants to show us how to make our dreams real in the 3D world. When Saturn is at work in our lives we can feel restricted and oppressed, depressed, and pessimistic. But Saturn always rewards our work. Always. Satisfying Saturn involves having patience and being responsible and showing up with persistence, integrity, and discipline. This won't go unrewarded.
Here's the thing: (the really magical thing). Saturn is stationing retrograde in sync with this Gemini new moon this weekend, and it's doing so with the full support of gift-bringer Jupiter. That's huge. This means that this year's Saturn retrograde is blessed by Jupiter, planet of opportunity, expansion, growth, luck, and abundance.
This means that our new moon beginnings this weekend are blessed by both benefics (blessing-bringing planets) - Venus and Jupiter.
This means that what we begin now has a very strong chance of being successful, especially if we satisfy Saturn over the coming months.
As this is a "new mind moon," being a new beginning in the sign of Gemini, ruler of mind and thoughts, it all begins with your thoughts, so make sure that they are aligned with what you want to create in your life from here on out.
This is how you work the magic, the alchemy.
~Happy manifesting! (PS - set your SMART goals for about six months out - early December - that's when you're likely to start seeing the fruits of your labors!)
My in-depth new moon email lands in subscribers' inboxes soon, and also includes a special solstice segment detailing the funky Pluto quincunx on next week as well as how to work with the lunar phases and transits for the next two weeks til the full moon.

We've had a lot of big change energy in the astrology at play since mid-April.
As we close down May, this is a perfect time to take stock and look ahead into June, because June is another big month astrologically.
***Keep reading for a recap of the last half of May to get you oriented, plus an overview of June's astrology, including a date and transit list at a glance for June!
April 19th to May 5th was our first eclipse portal of 2023 - bringing major "breakaway" energy. What shifts - like closings of certain chapters and openings of new ones - are unfolding in your life now?
The 4/19 new moon eclipse was the 2nd of two new moons in a row in Aries, the first one at 0°, and the 2nd one being the eclipse at 29°, the karmic degree of the sign. This was our opener to the north node landing in Aries for eighteen months in July, and what's happening now is moving us into that new chapter of our lives.
The 5/5 full moon eclipse was a south node eclipse in Scorpio, wrapping up the work we've been doing with north node in Taurus and south node in Scorpio for the past eighteen months. This was the big release eclipse. What are you breaking away from? What chapter are you closing (whether by choice or not)?
Remember that Pluto, bringer of death and rebirth style regeneration, in square to the nodes March into December this year is a driving force of change rumbling beneath the surface, and a major defining energy of 2023. Pluto's lesson is clear - we have to let go. Let go or be dragged (under).
Just two days after the 4/19 new moon eclipse, Mercury stationed retrograde in Taurus on 4/21. For many of us, this has had everything to do with money and security.
Things should be getting clearer now, at the end of May, and the grand fixed cross aspect between Jupiter freshly into Taurus, Mars freshly into Leo, and the nodes in T-square to Pluto is applying the pressure to get us through the birth canal and into the next chapter of our lives. Even if it's unfamiliar and uncomfortable, even if we are scared, we need to go ahead and face things head-on and move forward. It's the only way, and there's good stuff on the other side of this.
So let's recap the last half of May.....
5/14: Mercury stationed direct in Taurus.
5/15: Mars in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces (Venus will do the same 6/1-6/2).
5/16: Jupiter into Taurus (square Pluto RX 0° Aquarius).
5/19: New Moon in Taurus + Mercury making 3rd and final sextile to Saturn in Pisces - the first was 4/5, and the 2nd was 5/12 - this is about long-term plans/commitments/deals).
5/20: Mars into Leo (opposite Pluto RX 0° Aquarius).
5/21: Sun enters Gemini (trine Pluto RX 0° Aquarius).
5/23: Mars in Leo square Jupiter in Taurus exact.
And that gets us through the major bumps of this last half of May. Before the end of the month, we have no planetary sign changes or lunations, and just two aspects, Venus sextile Uranus (exciting change in love & money/self-value), and sun square Saturn (you're likely to feel tested, but this is a quickly passing aspect - just show up and stay responsible).
What to Expect in June...
June gets off to a good start. We've made it past the bumps of Jupiter and Mars changing signs with Pluto retrograde at 0° Aquarius playing gate-keeper.
Remember - Pluto is the biggest influence on 2023's astrology as a whole. It landed in Aquarius in March for the first time in over two centuries, and sitting at 0° Aquarius until June 11th, it's been very influentially positioned to play "bouncer" for Jupiter into Taurus and Mars/Venus into Leo, all the while T-squaring the nodes of destiny and fate, future and past, from early March through early December.
We need to be our most authentic selves, in our true inherent value, and in our personal power. Pluto is demanding it. The controlling, power-play, manipulative or coercive stuff we do, the threats, the ultimatums, when we aren't truly in our power but are desperately grasping at it isn't going to work now with Pluto playing such a big roll and in lesson-bringing mode now. When we feel that come up, that threat to our being and survival, we need to face the truth within ourselves and look to where we can reclaim our power within from where its being held hostage by fear, wounds, trauma, and limiting beliefs.
By June 1st, you'll want to have the release work done and decks cleared in your life as Jupiter conjuncts the north node of destiny and future in the Venus-ruled earth sign of security and material abundance and resources, Taurus. The universe cannot help you if you are clinging to the past and there's no space or invitation for the new.
At the same time, over June 1st and 2nd, Venus in Cancer traces Mars' footsteps from May 15th, trining Neptune in Pisces. Whatever Mars instigated in mid-May, Venus is bringing blessings and harmony to.
On June 3rd, you'll feel tension as we arrive at the Sagittarius full moon climax, under the influence of our 2nd grand cross in the skies in two weeks. There are 4 keys to focus on during this lunation to unlock the power of this full moon astrology, and I've written on it in detail in the subscribers-only June full moon email. If you aren't on the list and want to be, just click here.
On June 4th, Mercury now direct on its way out of Taurus passes by change-bringer Uranus - expect flashes of insight and innovative ideas for moving forward.
Then on June 5th, Venus joins the party in Leo. This will again be a bumpy entry, as Our Lady of Love and Money lands in Leo and finds herself in a challenging situation with Pluto retrograde. This is going to check you on any wobbly self-value, and it could come through relationships or finances. Stay as self-aware as possible, and when the need to prove or defend or react comes up, instead of doing that, pause and look within for the power that you can reclaim from this. This is going to set you up well for Venus in Leo until early October. (She will be retrograde July through September, helping us with our "personal Renaissance" this year.)
June 11th is a day to mark on your calendar, as today gives the opportunity for flashes of insight, deep understanding, and reveling in the gifts of Venus. Pluto retrograde moves back into Capricorn today until mid-January when it returns to Aquarius escorted by sun, light of consciousness. At the same time, Mercury enters Gemini, its own sign, and trines Pluto, and Venus squares Jupiter. Just watch overspending, or over-indulging of any sort.
The Gemini new moon is exact late in the day on Saturday 6/17 or 6/18, depending on where you live (21:37 PT, 6/18 00:37 ET). It occurs with a beautiful aspect between ruler of Gemini and the new moon, Mercury, and Venus, ruler of relationships and resources. Earlier that same day, Saturn stations retrograde in Pisces until November 4th.
Solstice occurs June 21st as sun enters Cancer at 07:57 PT, 10:57 ET, at an odd angle to Pluto retrograde, the quincunx, or 150° angle. (I've written more on this in the subscribers-only new moon email for June - just click here to make sure you are on the list.)
Finishing up the month, we have Mercury into Cancer June 26th, and finally, Neptune stations retrograde June 30th (direct 12/6).
By the end of June, we will have marked solstice and the beginning of Cancer season, one of the four major turning points of the year, have both Venus and Mars in Leo with Lilith, with Mercury and sun soon to join in July, have Pluto retrograde officially back in Capricorn for its final clean-up round, and both Saturn and Neptune in Pisces retrograde until November/December, respectively.
This is our entry into summer, and the activity in Leo, with the crown jewel being Venus retrograde in Leo July through September, bringing your "personal Renaissance." (I've written about this in depth in a recent blog post - just click here to read all about it.)

The lunar phases and sign transits, along with how to work with them from day to day, are detailed in the bimonthly lunation emails to subscribers. These are invaluable for your day to day flow, as the moon changes signs about every 2 1/2 days, and is an indicator of how we will feel best about ourselves and life on any given day. Following the moon can help you know where to focus your energies from day to day to be in flow instead of going against the current.
Come home to yourself and reclaim your throne.
It all begins here. When we do the "Venus Work," as I call it within, everything will, and must, come to match and reflect that in our lives. The problem is that the subconscious is tricky, and our "default mode" that we've developed is very strong. So we very well may have tried to shift many times without it really taking hold. But it doesn't mean that's not the way - it means we didn't 100% lock in the shift. That takes time, practice, consistency, and a lot of good support, especially when we are still living in the world and environment that aligns with our "default mode."

Take Aim At Your Desires - Release the Past & Fly Into the Future: The Astrology of May 9th-13th, 2o23.
TIME TO PULL BACK YOUR BOW, TAKE AIM AT YOUR DESIRED FUTURE, & LET THAT ARROW FLY!
The astrology of May 9th to 13th is supporting you, and it comes perfectly timed on the heels of May 5th's south node Scorpio full moon "releasing the karmic past" eclipse.
Exact May 9th, we have the Taurus sun conjunct innovator and change-bringer Uranus at 18° Taurus, and it has some very supportive astrology backing it.
Uranus is transiting Taurus 2018 - 2026, and it's helping us innovate new ways of doing Taurus in our lives - that's pleasure in life, and security through resources and material possessions.
Sun conjunct Taurus means exciting change and liberation. It's time to embrace the "change vibe" and shake up the routine and status quo in our lives.
It's time to express our uniqueness and the value in that. It's time to shine that light.
Uranus rules the 4th dimension, and the way we access it's insight and gifts is through our hearts - through our okay-ness and appreciation for the present moment.
From that place of satisfaction in the present moment, all things are possible - all opportunities and timelines open up to us.
(But we can't get there if we are stuck in the past or in the limiting beliefs and conditions of the 3D & Saturn.)
Stay open-minded and flexible and be proactive about shaking things up in your life in positive ways to access this energy.
You'll want to, because at the same time, we have a kite formation (see image above) forming in the skies - a grand water trine between Venus in Cancer, Saturn in Pisces, and the south node of past and release in Scorpio, plus the north node of future and growth in Taurus opposing the south node (of course) and making supportive aspects to the Venus-Saturn trine.
Venus-Saturn is exact 5/13 and it speaks of stability and commitment around love and money, relationships and resources. It wants to help us make the ideal real through strong foundation and commitment. It's about stepping onto the thrones of our hearts and committing to our values in full self-worth and taking the real world action steps to create a physical reality that supports, nurtures, and feeds us abundantly.
This is all feeding the north node in Taurus. Our point of growth, increase, desire, and appetite, in Taurus, the sign of Venus-ruled earth - the sign of wealth and resources and the security those bring. Think about the ways you've been wanting to feel more of this, and how you've been working to innovate new ways of achieving this in your life over the past couple of years.
The Taurus north node is our point of focus and realization - the point through which the blessings and gifts of this grand water trine will come through and manifest in our lives if we actively work this energy.
The Scorpio south node is our point of release - where we draw the arrow back to build the energy to shoot forward into the future.
The deep-diving full moon eclipse in Scorpio 5/5 was our set up for this. We dive into the Scorpio south node energy of the past and what we are moving away from, to build the tension to propel ourselves forward towards the opposite point, the north node in Taurus - the future, our desires, and what we are moving toward.
Can you name the past you are releasing, the future you are embracing, and what you are committing to now to get there?
TAKE IT EASY IN MAY.
Your May motto is "NOT YET."
This goes until 5/21, but if you really want to do it right, keep it up until 5/26, and use caution around June 5th.
Yes, we've just exited the eclipse portal. Yes, Mercury stations direct 5/14. Yes, Jupiter lands in Taurus 5/16.
These are all forward moving, good things.
And, yes, Mars and Venus are about to land in Leo (5/20 and 6/5, respectively), really getting the big Leo "Renaissance" vibes of this summer and fall going.
But not so fast, because there's just one catch, and it's Pluto retrograde sitting at 0° Aquarius until 6/11 when it reenters Capricorn, serving as "gatekeeper" for Jupiter into Taurus, and Mars and Venus into Leo, which all take place before 6/11.
Leo, Taurus, and Aquarius are all fixed signs - all at 180°/90° angles from each other. Scorpio, where the south node and the 5/5 full moon eclipse occurred, is the fourth fixed sign.
It's like a four-way stop in the sky - an intersection. Pluto is already camped out at one of the stop signs - at 0° Aquarius - and as Jupiter lands at 0° Taurus and Mars lands at 0° Leo, we'll have planets at 3 out of the 4 positions, creating an energetic impasse requiring us to grow in order to overcome the challenge that presents in our lives.
As we move through May, Pluto and the south node will be tangling with Jupiter entering Taurus 5/16, Mars entering Leo 5/20, and then Venus entering Leo 6/5.
Adding to the congestion, Mars entering Leo will also have its own stand-off with Jupiter freshly into Taurus (which is the part that lingers til the 26th).
Luckily all this will have subsided by the time Venus lands in Leo 6/5, leaving us just to deal with Our Lady of Love & Money being opposed by Pluto at the gates of Leo while Pluto still applies that steady pressure by T-square to the north node of future and south node of past (a transformative aspect actually on early March all the way through early December this year).
Think of it this way - THE RIDE (Jupiter in Taurus for an entire year and Mars blasting through Leo right in front of Venus on extended stay there til October) is going to be a good one, but the take off is a little bumpy.
It's not like you aren't prepared for this. And it's a necessary step on the journey, helping you truly be ready for what we'll be doing this summer/fall.
You already know the energy, because in late March and late April, when the moon arrived each month at 0° Leo, it was opposed by Pluto.
I've written more about this on the blog along with noting the dates to check in your calendar to clock the theme in your life - check it out here.
HEALING comes through CONNECTION.
(Venus in Cancer 5/7 - 6/5).
Trauma comes from the Greek word for wound. Our trauma is not what happened to us, it's our subjective experience of the event(s) and how that experience landed inside of us and affected our inner realm - our beliefs, thoughts, emotions, nervous system, and way of being in the world.
OUR TRAUMA IS THE EXPERIENCE OF DEEP INNER WOUNDING THAT HAS PROFOUNDLY AFFECTED OUR RELATIONSHIP TO OURSELVES AND THE WORLD, because it has disconnected us from ourselves and thus our ability to connect in general. It has affected our ability to be in right relationship with ourselves and life.
Venus in Cancer is here to help us heal.
Venus is relationships - our relationship to ourselves, others, money, resources, abundance, pleasure, and the world - by way of our value of ourselves.
Cancer is the moon-ruled cardinal water sign of the mother, where we come from, ancestors, past, childhood past, how we feel nourished and taken care of, emotional security, family, tribe, and belonging.
Cancer is all about connection. Venus in transit shows us how we express our love, where our focus of value shifts to, and what area of life blessings will come from during that transit.
With Venus in Cancer, we will be more focused on creating a sense of belonging, connection, and emotional security. We will feel more sensitive and intuitive, and express more devoted, caring, and protective qualities.
This is quite the energetic shift from Venus in Gemini, where our love expression has been more fickle, curious, and easily bored, wanting intellectual stimulation and being averse to anything stuffy, emotional, or that comes with a feeling of being tied down.
Venus in Cancer Dates to Know:
May is a dynamic month astrologically. We're moving towards good things over summer and fall, but May presents a "bumpy entry."
Venus lands in Cancer on 5/7, right after the first eclipse portal of 2023 closes with the 5/5 south node full moon "release" eclipse in Scorpio.
Mercury retrograde in Taurus stations direct on 5/14, and then just two days later Jupiter lands in Taurus, for an all-around fortunate year-long transit. Then on 5/20, Mars lands in Leo just two weeks ahead of Venus, activating the Leo energy that will be going strong all summer and into fall as Mars and Venus land there kicking off Leo season early, Venus stations retrograde in July (and will remain there on extended day bringing extra blessings til October) and sun and Mercury pass through end of July through end of August.
But here's the May catch: Jupiter into Taurus and Mars into Leo will be in challenging "growth" aspect to each other at 0° of the two fixed signs, and this tangle will only be amplified by Pluto freshly retrograde at 0° Aquarius, in T-square to the north node of future and south node of fate almost all of 2023. Pluto in lesson and review mode at 0° Aquarius (until 6/11 when it reenters Capricorn for a potent clean up round - it won't be back for over two centuries) is acting as gatekeeper for May's major energy shifts brought by planetary sign changes. We're moving into a new phase, but it's going to be a bumpy entry.
Venus in Cancer is the healing balm. While the planetary sign changes in May run into Pluto checking to see if we really learned the lessons and are truly in our power, truth, and above board with our motives, Venus in Cancer is balancing things, bringing the blessings. (If you want to understand what Pluto lessons are coming up specifically for you, click here to check out my article on Lilith in Leo and your personal summer "Renaissance," where I tell you what dates to look at and why to clue in to the theme that's coming up for you.)
~ 5/12-5/13 - Venus in Cancer trine Saturn in Pisces, sextile Mercury in Taurus
Right after landing in Cancer, Venus joins the Mercury direct party, making supportive alignments to both Mercury about to station direct 5/14 with Saturn's supporting from Pisces. This speaks to "all good things," coming about with Mercury direct. This alignment began around 4/5-4/7 as Mercury entered the pre-shadow of its retrograde in Taurus in positive alignment to Saturn in Pisces. Mercury is the mind and thinking and communications, and Saturn is about making things real. Saturn in Pisces is about making the ideal and dreams real, and also will reality check us when we are feet aren't on the ground and we're drifting off into fantasy land. Mercury retrograde reviews thinking, ideas, and communication/expression, and Taurus is the Venus-ruled earth sign of material security, resources, pleasure, and the creature comforts of life - by way of self-value of course. We cannot attract our desires if we aren't solidly seated upon our thrones. We get what we believe, not what we want. That Mercury-Saturn alignment (think: refining our ideas for making dreams reality, editing, researching, long-term planning) was the first in a series of three - the final two will come back to back as Mercury stations direct, without the two planets ever leaving aspect orb, from 5/10-5/22 - the first part is with Mercury retrograde from 5/10-5/14 and the finale or resolution is then after Mercury stations direct, from 5/14-5/22, carrying us through the 5/19 Taurus new moon. Venus will be lending a healing helping hand from Cancer, aligning with both Mercury retrograde and Saturn 5/12 and 5/13 just before Mercury stations direct 5/14, so pay attention these days to how self-value and values are getting a boost and clarification and how it plays into this larger Mercury retrograde theme you've been working on for the past few weeks, and how it ties into whatever came up around 4/5-4/7.
~ 5/15-5/17 - Mars in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces
Now we are talking about an alignment from Mars at the end degrees of Cancer to Neptune in Pisces, but you'll want to also pay attention to what comes up 5/15-5/17, because Venus is going to be following directly in Mars' footsteps and making this exact same aspect, bringing the second half of the equation, 6/1 and 6/2, right before she lands in Leo on 6/5. Remember these both are water to water flowing alignments. Both water signs are about connection, with Cancer being more on the emotional and human realm, about nurturing, and Pisces being a more spiritual and broad concept - we are all one like drops of water in the ocean - all life is connected. Mars is the masculine energy and how we go after what we want. Mars is about direct confrontation, but in Cancer it tends to go sideways, like the crab itself. Venus is the feminine energy and is about how we align with, attract, and receive what we want. Mars represents our powers of assertion, Venus represents our powers of attraction. But they will both be making this flowing aspect to dreamy Neptune in Pisces from Cancer, one right after the other. Pay attention to what desires arise 5/15-5/17 with Mars, and then see how Venus helps you align energetically with those desires 6/1-6/2.
~ 5/25-5/26 - Venus in Cancer sextile Uranus in Taurus
Towards the end of May, just as we are leaving the "use caution" bumpy period on strong 5/14-5/26, Venus makes an opportunistic alignment with change-bringer and awakener, Uranus in her own sign of earthly desires, Taurus. Uranus in Taurus (2018-2026) is helping us innovate the way we create a sense of security on the material plane, through resources, pleasure in life, and worldly possessions. We've already passed through the major "shake-up" that's forcing us to create changes with the pandemic and related issues. Venus in supportive alignment to Uranus helps us to truly value our own uniqueness and move towards what is in alignment with that with a sense of excitement rather than resistance to change and what is unfamiliar. Try something new, be spontaneous, socialize, break the status quo and shake up your old routine and see what unexpected (good) surprise awaits.
~ 6/1-6/2 - Venus in Cancer trine Neptune in Pisces
Beginning of June, just before Venus moves on into Leo for her star performance of 2023, she has a little meeting with Neptune in Pisces, adding to whatever Mars activated mid-month. What desires are you aligning with energetically?
~ 6/5 - Venus enters Leo until 10/8 (Retrograde 7/22-9/3)
Venus lands in Leo on 6/5, for one of the big energetic signatures of 2023, as she will stay there until 10/8 and also go retrograde. Although not as intense as the bumps we encounter most of May as Jupiter lands in Taurus in square to Mars landing in Leo and Pluto retrograde at 0° Aquarius, Venus still must cross the path of gatekeeper Pluto as she enters Leo. Expect your self-value, values, and inner security to be put to the test by Lord of the Underworld. If you still have shadow bits locked away, in disownment and denial, you will definitely feel this. (To get an idea of what this might be about and if you've worked through it, check out my post on it here.) By 6/11, Pluto will be back in Capricorn, tending to its unfinished underworld business there, so by the time Mercury and sun land in Leo in July, they will have free entry to the sign.
Embrace This Hard Truth To Free Yourself From the Spell That's Keeping You Stuck & Start Getting the Love & Abundance You Want.
This Monday brings the "aha moment" of Mercury retrograde in Taurus and the deep jolt of Pluto shifting into reverse as Friday's Scorpio full moon eclipse looms large.
The time to come to terms with what we really value and desire and what's actually standing in our way that we need to once and for all release has arrived, and it's happening whether we are on board or not.
Embrace this truth to release yourself from the spell keeping you stuck and start getting the love and abundance you've been longing for in life.
Hard truth: "I can't get what I want/need" is a red flag statement that means you are not in your power.
You read that right. I wasn't joking when I said it was a hard truth, but it's an important truth, and one that will indeed set you free - if and when you embrace it. This is the kind of truth that stings a little, but ultimately will unlock so much power for you.
Let me explain.
You are the only one keeping yourself from getting what you want or need.
You have the power. You've always had it. But you continue to hold away from yourself that which you long for, and that's part of the reason it's so frustratingly painful.
Simple. There's a very old subconscious program running in you that says "I can't get what I want and need."
When I say subconscious, I mean below the surface of your conscious awareness. You don't realize that's what is going on - you only keep experiencing the results in your life over and over. And because you don't realize this is subconscious programming at play, you come to conclusions like "that's just the way the world is," and "that's just the way life is," and "that's just the way it is."
This subconscious programming may be tied to other additional limiting beliefs about yourself, such as "I'm not good enough," and/or about the world and life in general, like "life is hard and then you die."
This might even be compounded by a deep (and again subconscious) fear of punishment or retribution if you happen to get caught ever getting and enjoying that which you believe yourself to be so unworthy. Or maybe it's more about being rejected and abandoned. Maybe the limiting belief says, "no good deed goes unpunished," or "it's lonely at the top." Maybe there's some resistance because of a deeply held belief of not outshining siblings or being more successful than your parents. Or maybe it's a belief that ultimately, being successful, happy, supported, and enjoying life will somehow make you a target, or you will lose friends and loved ones.
Yet, consciously, you truly want what you want, and you can't see any logical reason why you shouldn't have it, and so you keep working towards it, and keep find yourself stuck in the same loop of never quite getting there.
Because you're caught in the double bind, under the spell of the subconscious beliefs.
So let's dive into this a little more deeply.
It's all energy. Energy is all there is.
The energy of lack and withholding is the same energy, no matter what we are talking about.
And as I said before, you are the one in charge. You are the one with the power, and you are the only one keeping yourself from what you want or need.
But here's the deal: your beliefs, and especially those subconscious ones that live and operate below the surface of your conscious awareness, are what create the energetic prism that you live life through. As within, so without. Whatever's going on in your inner realm, whether you are aware of it or not, is what's going to be reflected in your outer experience of life.
So that belief of "I can't get what I want," or "I can't get my needs met," and all of the other ones that are woven in with it is what is creating your thoughts, your emotions, your energetic vibration, and the experience of life you live every single day.
And it will remain that way until you dig in deep and shift those beliefs, thus giving your energetic prism a new vibration.
This is why this truth is such a hard pill to swallow. Since you aren't consciously aware of this belief and how it works beneath the surface of your consciousness, it's running the show, and you are unwittingly giving your power away to it every day, feeling helpless and disempowered to change the "don't wants" you see in your life.
You may be focused on relationships or money, or more likely the lack thereof, but to your being, needs met or unmet are all the same - it's the same energy. And it's the same story - the block, the resistance, the stuckness - it's inside of you, and you have the power to change it.
So what else are you withholding from yourself?
Let's take a look at how this belief can play out in every day life.
There's something else that can get us tripped up that I want to mention here too, although I haven't covered all of the multitudes of possibilities that can play out in our lives.
Sometimes it's not just beliefs, but intertwined with them might be unresolved trauma from childhood and/or some sort of decision or vow we made way back then while in great distress. These are strong and take willingness to really do deep work to heal and neutralize.
When something big happens that we couldn't stop, on top of the trauma, we may have also decided something beyond a limiting belief like "no one loves me," beyond the betrayal trauma or broken trust, that goes something like "this isn't okay, and it's never going to be okay - I'm never going to let this be okay."
Of course there are many different versions of this, but my point is that it's not really a belief, but it's a vow that went along with the limiting beliefs when they were formed.
And a vow like this can absolutely be working beneath the surface of your consciousness and sabotaging your efforts to experience all the things you want in life.
Because not letting thing be okay is not letting yourself be okay, and if that isn't neutralized and remains active, you are always going to run up against the internal conflict.
You are going to have to decide to be okay. You're going to have to let it go. Whatever part of you, deep inside, is still holding out for justice or some sort of reparation, it has to let that go. It has to let go so you can heal and finally move on. And that might mean truly grieving what happened, what never was, what was lost - anything and everything that needs to be grieved.
This is the power of your subconscious mind and the beliefs we hold, and the best part is, now that you know this, you have the power to change it.
You've simply been running on default under the spell of the limiting beliefs that stuck in your subconscious somewhere along the way in life.
The moment you decide that you can and do get what you want and need, and that you're okay, is the moment when everything changes. It's the moment when you start getting the love and abundance you want in life - when you suddenly find yourself getting all those elusive needs and wants met and living the life you've been longing.
Start Planning Your Summer "Personal Renaissance" Now: Everything You Need to Know About This Summer's Leo Astrology, Especially Lilith in Leo!
What area of life will this summer's action be coming through for you personally?
Check out the graphic below to find out what astrological house, or area of life, Leo rules for you based on your rising sign. (Keep reading - next I'm going to break down the energies at play in Leo over the coming months.)
First Mars activates Leo late May, then Venus joins the mix in early June. But Lilith has been in the sign of audacious sign of creative self-expression since January.
You've probably already heard me talk about Venus in Leo this year from an extended stay including retrograde from early June into October.
But Mars beats her there, landing in Leo May 20th (as the dust settles from the spring eclipse portal and in the wake of Mercury stationing direct and Jupiter, gift-bringer, landing in Taurus for a full year).
Mars landing in Leo for two months really activates the Leo energy and the area of life ruled by Leo for us, but we've had another key player in the sign heating things up since January - Lilith. (Note that Sun and Mercury will join the mix for Leo season - late July til late August, and Venus stations retrograde June 22nd.)
Let's talk about Lilith in Leo.
Mars activates, Venus brings blessings and healing, and Lilith does what exactly?
Lilith in astrology (and in mythology) can get confusing. There's Lilith the asteroid, and then there's Black Moon Lilith, the lunar apogee. This is a calculated point, not an actual object.
The apogee is the calculated point of the moon's orbit that is farthest from the earth. It's a "shadow point," much like the north and south nodes that represent appetite, destiny, increase, and the direction of soul growth, and letting go, decrease, karma, and fate, respectively.
Black Moon Lilith has a 9 year orbit and spends 9 months in each sign.
So what does it mean to you?
Well, just like everything else, there's one in your natal chart that's part of your energetic blueprint, and then there's the current transit.
Transit Lilith landed in Leo in January and will vacate the sign along with Venus in October. Given all of the other activity in Leo this year and it's relationship to Uranus/north node in Taurus and south node in Scorpio, and Pluto arriving at zero degrees Aquarius in March, Black Moon Lilith in Leo is worth discussing and understanding.
Most of us know Lilith as a character in the Bible - Adam's first wife that walked out, refusing to submit, to be replaced by Eve. (Whether she walked out or was kicked out is a detail that is still up for debate.)
No matter. Our mission is to understand the energy of this archetype so we can understand this energy in our lives, and Lilith goes back way farther than the Bible.
She shows up in the Sumerian myth of Inanna's Descent - she had nested in the huluppu tree Inanna had planted and tended to with the intention of creating a great throne for herself. When Inanna could not get Lilith to leave the tree, her future throne, she had her brother help her chase her off so the throne could be cut from the tree's wood.
Inanna's Descent is the myth of Venus' retrograde - the great queen's descent to the underworld to face her shadow and be reborn to new consciousness, ruler of both worlds, of shadow and light, and Lilith is intrinsically woven into this epic tale of human experience as a representative of the shadow, the feminine that goes her own way, the one who was shamed, rejected, and outcast.
In Inanna's myth, we see her showing up as something that stands between Inanna and her throne. She calls in her brother to rid "the pest" for her and carve her great throne from the tree, but as we all know, other people cannot truly do our shadow work for us. As the myth unfolds, we find Inanna with all of her high worldly status not truly in our power, and becoming conscious of her sister, Erishkrigal, who rules the Underworld - her shadow self, and going to meet her face to face. The shadow initially kills her, but the god of wisdom Enki brings her back to life, reborn to new consciousness. Then and only then, in her true power, can she integrate the shadow and become ruler of both worlds - light and shadow, above and below.
Black Moon Lilith represents the wild feminine, the part of us that won't be tamed, and won't be quiet. Until we integrate this part of ourselves into consciousness through self-acceptance, we will struggle with feeling ashamed of it - and this shows up as feeling shame and discomfort, maybe outright offense, when we see other people owning and expressing this energy we've deemed unacceptable in ourselves.
3 points to Working With the Big Leo Energy This Summer & Your Personal Renaissance.
1. Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee - the point of the moon's orbit that is the farthest the moon can get from the earth without breaking free of its orbit and spinning off into space. With BML in Leo January through October, whatever passes through Leo during that time will also be at this "breaking free" point. So that means Mars, self-assertion and desire, 5/20 through 7/10, Venus, self-value and attraction, 6/5 through 10/8, sun, source and light of consciousness, 7/23 through 8/22, and Mercury, the mind, thinking, and communication, 7/11 through 7/28.
2. The moon is giving us monthly updates on this energy every time it transits Leo, and until June, it opposes Pluto at 0° Aquarius every time it enters the sign. The moon is our daily feels, and the sign is transiting on any given day tells us how we will feel best about ourselves and life. In Leo, it's about honoring the inner child, following our hearts, and unapologetic creative self-expression. We want to be seen, heard, and appreciated for who we are. Pluto wants transformation. It wants us in right relationship to our personal power. And it brings this transformation about by stripping exposing deep subconscious truths and forcing us to release the old - to die to the old consciousness to be reborn to the new. Every time until June the moon lands in Leo, our emotional security may feel "out there," as deep stuff comes up in our lives triggering us, fueling this major process of release and regeneration that is on all year really as Pluto squares the nodes of future and past March through December.
Here are the dates through September the moon is in Leo: (MDT). (Mark these dates on your calendar and tune into what's coming up to get a sense of the theme you're going to be working on as your "personal renaissance" over this summer!)
3. Where, and how, are you unapologetically breaking free, and what from?Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee - all about "breaking free." Uranus in Taurus in square is about breaking free too - innovating a new way to material security, maybe by way of new values and new self-value. Pluto's helping us dig up the deeply buried stuff in our subconscious that keeps sabotaging us. The south node in Scorpio is our point of release. But Leo is where we are really focusing over the summer - where we are taking heart, having courage, and keeping true to ourselves no matter what.
In "Finding Our Way Through the Dark," Demetra George says, “The Asteroid Lilith describes the first stage in the mythical journey where she is suppressed, humiliated and flees in a fiery rage to the desolate wilderness. The Dark Moon Lilith depicts the pain of her exile where she plots and executes revenge. The Black Moon Lilith shows how she transmutes her distorted image back into its natural healthy expression."
This is about recovering the part of you, your expression, that was shamed and thus deemed unacceptable and reintegrating it.
This is about reclaiming your power by bringing back under your wing the parts of you you've disowned and locked deep in that inner dungeon.
Remember, your body is an entire organism made up of millions of tiny single ones - cells...molecules...energy. Just like a stand of aspen trees, what harms one harms all, because they are actually all the same organism.
You cannot disown part of yourself or be ashamed of part of yourself without disowning the entire self. For you to be okay, and worthy, and valuable, that part of you has to be okay too. Period.
This summer is your chance to transmute this distorted image of yourself, to break free of the limiting beliefs, judgments, and conditional thinking that have kept you imprisoned from your heart's desires and full self expression.
Here's an example of how Black Moon Lilith in the natal chart works. If you have Lilith natally in the 8th or Scorpio, you may feel extremely uncomfortable or judgmental when you are around people expressing attachment issues, possessiveness, or jealousy. You feel shame just being in proximity of it, and maybe even like they need to be "punished" for their behavior - because at some point in your life, whether you remember it or not, you were, and now you've buried the root need to be included, wanted, and deeply connected in yourself. It's not allowed, even though it's a primal human need. Your experience didn't separate the core need from the immature or unconscious behavior that was only trying to get that need met.
Lilith in Leo wants attention, and again, attention and appreciation are intrinsic human needs. But how many times have we been shamed for our attempts to get this need met? How many of us were told "children were meant to be seen and not heard?" How many attempts from our caregivers and authority figures to teach us appropriate social behavior over the course of growing up ended up with us carrying this shame and feelings of not valuable and not important into our adulthood? And because we've disowned this need and deemed this part of ourselves unacceptable and locked it away in the shadow dungeon, it has no choice but to express unconsciously, distorted, and sideways, sending us into more self-loathing and shame.
This summer is your opportunity to find that part of yourself and bring it out of the dungeon. Love it up, bring it back into the fold, into your loving and compassionate gaze. It was never wrong or bad. It just needs your full acceptance, and then loving guidance.
Venus will be swooping in to Leo June through October and retrograde 6/22 to 9/3 supporting us in making that same journey to our own shadowlands as the great Sumerian queen Inanna to face our shadow and be reborn to new consciousness, whole unto ourselves, ruler of both shadow and light - helping us access a new level of self-value.
Until then, we are doing the prep work for the "personal renaissance" coming this summer. If you want to dive deeper, start with finding the area of life that Leo rules in your chart, because that's where all the action will be. For deeper understanding, then check what areas of life Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius rule for you as these are all playing in, with Pluto moving into Aquarius squaring the nodes, the north node of future along with Uranus bringing innovation to values/material security in Taurus, and the south node of karma and past signaling where we need to release in Scorpio.

If It Feels Like You Need to Engage, That's Your Cue to LET GO: Pluto Retrograde & Mercury Cazimi, May 1st, 2023.
Mark May 1st on your calendar - it's likely to be an insightful day.
Why? Because by evening (Mountain Time), we have Mercury retrograde in Taurus cazimi, or making an inferior conjunction to the sun, marking the heart of its retrograde review and bringing the big "aha" moment, and then just two hours later, Pluto officially stationing retrograde until October 10th.
To make things even more intense, this all occurs just days before the 5/5 Scorpio full moon eclipse - an energetic climax that closes the eclipse portal that opened 4/19. Eclipses always bring lasting change to our lives, and this one especially signifies closing chapters of our lives and letting go. Pluto being the modern ruler of Scorpio only adds more gravity to the situation at hand.
I've referred to the theme of Mercury retrograde in Taurus as "innovating the good life." Here's why. (Read more about Mercury retrograde in Taurus 4/21 to 5/14 here.)
Mercury retrograde is always a review of thinking and communication. Taurus is the Venus-ruled earth sign of how we feel secure and enjoy life through material resources and possessions. Mercury doesn't just rule the mind, it rules every day errands, connections, and transactions - money.
Looking at the bigger picture, Uranus moved into Taurus in 2018 and will finish that transit in 2025. Uranus brings change through sudden upheaval, and wants us to innovate and break free from the status quo. The climax of Uranus in Taurus was brought about with the pandemic over the past few years - an event that forced large scale changes, and created the need to innovate our relationship with resources of all kinds, how we enjoy life's creature comforts, and how we feel materially secure in our lives.
The north node of increase, appetite, future, and destiny moved into Taurus mid-January 2022, bringing a collective desire to move past the restrictions of the pandemic and find new ways to enjoy the abundance of life again. However, Saturn in Aquarius (Saturn entering Aquarius in March 2020 was the beginning of the pandemic for most of us), was still finishing up its series of squares (an energetic impasse that restricts and forces growth) to Uranus in Taurus, on February 2021 til October 2022, so although we felt the desire to break through and break free and align with the call of the north node and Uranus in Taurus, we were frustratingly held back.
But now it's a completely different ball game.
Saturn's now moved into Pisces - this puts it in a supportive position to Uranus in Taurus rather than a challenging one. By July, the north node will leave Taurus and move on into Aries, starting a new 18 month cycle, which means it is wrapping up it's time in Taurus, bringing this transit that began in January of 2022 to culmination.
Mercury retrograde in Taurus now just before Jupiter lands there to bring gifts for an entire year starting May 16th, is here to help us mentally review in the Taurean realms before we move forward.
If you've had budget or financial issues up for review, then perfect. Now's the time to get that sorted, and Mercury retrograde is pointing you in the right direction.
On a deeper level, consider this: the total solar eclipse was 4/19 (or 4/20 depending on what part of the world you live in), and it featured the new moon eclipse in square to Pluto - more specifically, sun square Pluto. Then, Mercury stationed retrograde on 4/21.
As Pluto stations retrograde on 5/1, Mercury makes its inferior conjunction with the sun in Taurus, known as "cazimi." The inferior conjunction only happens when Mercury is retrograde, and Mercury disappears beneath the sun's rays. This is when Mercury, on its quest for missed information, is said to "sit in the throne room with the king." This is when sun, light of consciousness, imparts its wisdom to Mercury, ruler of the mind and the messenger. It's an "aha moment."
What came up for you around power dynamics & control around 4/19 to 4/21? How is that situation unfolding now?
Mercury retrograde in either sign of Venus (Taurus or Libra) can lead to people coming back in from the past and the official ending of relationships. It's always a review and a mental one, so things come back in to spark whatever we need to rework our perception of to refine thinking and expression.
Remember this: we tend to think of Venus simplistically as "love and money," but at the heart in either case, this is about our values and ultimately our value of ourselves. If you have a deficit in either area, there's a self-value issue at the heart of the matter.
Pluto is about power.
Pluto retrograde is specifically a review of our relationship to power, and our clue to that lies in what issues around power and control are surfacing in our lives.
The key here is this: your power lies in your ability to control yourself, and nowhere else.
Pluto teaches us about letting go - the power of elimination.
If whatever is coming up for you now has even a whiff of power dynamics (whether it's you feeling the need to power trip, coerce, manipulate, or control, or it's someone else displaying these behaviors towards you) it's a clear sign to LET GO.
And this letting go is NOT an ultimatum, or threat, or done with the intention of any sort of manipulation. The key here lies in your motives for this "elimination," so make sure you are above board on all counts with this.
Eclipses finalize things, and Pluto will be retrograde til October 10th, so if there are lessons to be learned here or fall out/repercussions, you can bet they will be coming front and center for you between now and October.
This Pluto retrograde is more potent, as Pluto is in the midst of a major transition - from Capricorn where its been since 2008, to Aquarius where it will be until 2044, after January when it returns.
Pluto begins this retrograde on 5/1 at 0° Aquarius, and will station direct 10/10 at 27° Capricorn. Collectively we may very well see recession, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and in general the results of any greed and power plays by the "powers that be" since 2008. Pluto in transit always strips and exposes what's rotten so it can be destroyed and something new may be created, and Pluto in Capricorn kicked off with the Global Financial Crisis.
On a more personal note, Pluto retrograde will have to do for you with whatever house (area of life) Capricorn rules in your life, and your relationship to power in that area of life. Think of it as a "clean-up round," wrapping up the major themes and lessons since 2008 and how that has transformed you, before moving on to what's next.
Don't ignore whatever is coming up for you now.
The theme of our relationship to personal power and LETTING GO is the major underlying theme of the astrology of 2023, with Pluto being in square to the nodes of future and past, destiny and karma, from early March til early December.
2023 is what I'm referring to as a "transition year" for all of us, and it largely has to do with this particular energetic dynamic, coinciding with Pluto's shift into Aquarius, which kicks off a series of outer planet sign changes that will have us in a totally new place by 2025/early 2026.
If you're facing down power dynamics, realize that you are being guided to fully release any attachments or limiting beliefs that no longer serve you, specifically by coming into right relationship with power and especially your personal power.
If it feels like your security has been wobbled, or you are feeling disempowered or not of value, be willing to take a closer look at what has been triggered deep within your subconscious and psyche and be honest about your true motives for any action you feel driven to take.
This isn't the time for relying on power dynamics or false sense of control to try and find your sense of security. It's time to disengage and release those "lose-lose" situations, while maintaining the highest ethics, morals, and respect for both yourself and others. Take the high road and focus on not needing to control or get a specific outcome to be okay.
