Welcome to Eclipse Season... Are You Ready?

6/17/2019

July, along with these final weeks of June,
will be the most intense time of 2019.

This is huge change energy that comes with tricky to navigate astrology that will be pushing us to evolve and grow.  This is the kind of transformation that can bring astounding results but doesn't come easy and won't feel comfortable - in fact this sort of change can feel quite harsh and terrifying to us as we try to make our way out of whatever darkness we seem to have been dropped suddenly into.

The unknown we experience during big transitions is a scary place, but we cannot access our power to create new in our lives without entering the void, the chaos, and being able to make friends with the dark of the unknown and sit with it.

Think of the caterpillar that builds its cocoon out of instinct, unaware that it will never return to the life it has lived as that particular being, and will remain isolated in the darkness of that cocoon, like a dark grave, until the time is right for it to emerge completely transformed.

Yet before it realizes the magic of being reborn as a butterfly, as it awakens to its strange new identity, it must work to break out of its cocoon.  It does this without any knowledge of necessarily what changes it has experienced or what lies outside of that darkness it has been confined in as it has undergone this amazing transformation - it breaks out of its cocoon simply because it must, and it must indeed work very hard to break from this cocoon, because without this work, it would not get the its blood pumped into these wings so new and strange to it.

Without the willingness to enter into the darkness of the cocoon and face the death of the life it has known, the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly would not be possible.  Without the drive and willingness to work to then break free of the now constraining and no longer useful confines of the once necessary cocoon, the butterfly would not be able to survive in its new form - it would not be able to fly.

Intensity has been building over the past week in an unsettled atmosphere that is highly changeable and lacking any real terra firma, making it difficult for us to access a true sense of security.

The Sagittarius full moon in the pre-dawn hours of Monday June 17th was given a boost as it was sitting with its ruler Jupiter, transiting its own sign of Sagittarius since late 2018.  Sagittarius is a fire sign, but its mutable in quality, which means it is transitional in nature and highly changeaable, which we could experience as instability or harness as versatility.  Sagittarius is about the high perspective, belief, philosophy faith, optimism and the "big" truth.  It is the fool taking the leap of faith holding the belief that it will all work out in the end, venturing boldly into the unknown unaware that the journey ahead will be one of great transformation - a journey from which he will never return - at least not to the same place in life as the same person he was when he began.  With this full moon, our deepest values and beliefs, true desires, highest hopes, and most cherished dreams hopefully were illuminated so that we might both hold on to our faith and belief in our desired destination as we move through the upcoming challenging astrology and see the truth of our current reality and the progress we have made along our soul's true path thus far.

This week, we collectively enter into some tricky astrological territory.  June and July are the most intense months of 2019.  There is A LOT going on this week, and from here we will move into July's eclipses.  This week's astrology means business, and eclipses always denote big change.

If there's one basic go-to for navigating June, it is TAKE ACTION - just take a step, any step forward.  Don't allow yourself to become paralyzed or frozen trying to make the perfect choice of action.  Remember, it is easier to adjust your direction when you are MOVING.  Just take a step.  You can make corrections as you go, as long as you are going.

Remember the fool taking the leap of faith.  What faith, what belief, what truth has the Sagittarian full moon revealed to you?  Hold that close.  Trust in your own truth and let it be your guide as you set out into the unknown, like the caterpillar who follows the urge to build its cocoon, surrenders to the process of transformation, and then as an emerging butterfly again follows the instinct to fight its way out of the cocoon it was driven to build in the past but now must break free of to survive.  Follow your TRUTH - and be sure it is your truth and not your fear - and just do what you are feeling urged to do next.  When you trust and take action based upon that core truth, you can befriend the unknown, knowing you will be guided to the next step when it is time, and navigate any challenges with grace as you surrender (not submit) to the process of transformation.  Trust you will be told when it is time to cocoon and when it is time to break free.

This week is not a time to push against resistance or pick a fight with the Universe.

If there was any conflict or strain bubbling beneath the surface that made itself known in your life last Wednesday and Thursday, it has the potential to become a battle of epic proportions under this week's stand-off between Mars in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn. Have no doubt, fate and destiny are at play here.  With the full moon giving us a glimpse, just a taste, of our soul's truest desires, we may be filled with passion and the desire to charge forward now fueled by a sense of purpose and boundless optimism.  While June is a time to take action, use caution.  If you come up against resistance this is not the time to push.  This is not the time to go into battle. Do not challenge the powerful forces at play.

From now (Monday's full moon) until July 2nd, the moon will be waning until the new moon eclipse in Cancer.  These next two weeks serve as our window to take whatever has been illuminated for us with this full moon and release whatever no longer aligns with us in preparation for eclipse season.  As conflict and challenges arise in the coming weeks, rather than push forward and pick a fight against something that you will never win, retreat, release, restrategize and reorganize.  With July 2nd's new moon eclipse in Cancer, the two week portal of manifestation will open between the new moon eclipse and the following full moon eclipse in Cancer's opposite sign of Capricorn.  Eclipses are known for bringing big change to our lives.  Don't expect it to be comfortable if your comfort is found only in the familiar.

Remember whatever faith, belief and/or truth June's Sagittarian full moon illuminated for you - keep it close - trust in your own truth and let it be your guide now.  Holding onto that truth and that faith and belief and trust within, befriend the unknown and harness the transformative power of the eclipses, surrendering with grace to releasing what no longer serves and the death of our consciousness - life and self as we have previously known them - so we can emerge born again with wings.

This week there are major astrological events happening every single day leading up to the summer solstice on Friday June 21st.  Summer solstice is exact at the precise time that the sun reaches zero degrees Cancer (with its opposing or balancing counterpart being winter solstice when the sun reaches zero degrees Capricorn).  The solstices ask us to balance the feminine and masculine energies of Cancer and Capricorn in our lives.  They also begin summer and winter, respectively, and therefore initiate us into new seasons of our life - new beginnings.  They literally bring new life.  Cancer and Capricorn are known as cardinal signs (along with Aries and Libra) as they signify the beginning of seasons.  As mentioned before Sagittarius is known as a mutable sign, as it signifies the end of a season and the transition into the next.  In this way we can understand the mid-June full moon in Sagittarius as the start of the transition phase into the new that is coming with the Friday's summer solstice, where we are guided energetically to release as one season ends and surrender to the transformation we must move through to embrace what is next for us.

And the astrological axis of Cancer and Capricorn has been a building theme, and is now even more emphasized, not only this week but moving forward through July.  Each sign of the zodiac has an opposite sign which we are challenged to balance the energies of in our lives.  These energies can be felt as opposing each other - as fighting against each other, or in a more positive sense can be felt as complementing each other - polarities that are equally valuable and necessary in our lives and when honored as such bring balance and harmony.

On Tuesday the 18th, Mercury (the Messenger) meets up with Mars (the Warrior) in the Cancer, the emotional water sign of the mother, home and nurturing, as well as the subconscious in alignment with the North Node of the moon, which is our soul growth and destiny - our way forward. Then on Wednesday the 19th, they oppose Pluto (Lord of the Underworld) in retrograde in Capricorn, the earth sign of the father, authority, political and financial systems, structures and rules of society, and discipline, in alignment with the South Node of the moon which is our karmic past.

Mercury represents our mind, thoughts and communication and Mars represents our drive, passion, assertion, and if it comes to it, defense, protection and even anger.  As Mercury aligns with the North Node, we may get messages of our soul's path forward, and sitting with Mars gives it extra motivation.  But these two being in water sign Cancer are subject to being run by subconscious patterns and fears and ruled by our emotions so that the resulting expression falls short of clear cut and straightforward.

The opposition between Mars with Mercury in Cancer with the North Node and Pluto (in retrograde) in Capricorn with the South Node technically occurs on Wednesday, but this tension is going to be felt all week.  There are a lot of different factors feeding into this dynamic, but we are going to feel a strong drive and desire to achieve our goals, and in the process may come up against power struggles.

Choose your battles wisely.  Know that underlying this energy is the theme of survival, of the opposition of masculine and feminine, the father and the mother, nurturing and the safety of home versus the drive to go out and get what we need to survive, to make it, to succeed.  Giving this more gravity are the elements of destiny, soul purpose, karma, the lessons of our past, and fate intertwined with this.

Any power struggles can quickly turn into a no-win situation with destruction and violence possible.  Be very careful of attracting power struggles or any tendency to manipulate, be overly competitive, overly confident, intimidating, bullying, or otherwise threatening the position of anyone you are in any kind of conflict with.  If any kind of resistance or conflict comes up, or the slightest hint of a power struggle, this is not the time to push - instead make a strategic retreat and regroup and focus on adjusting your goals and/or plan for achieving them to ensure success.

On Thursday, Mercury enters the pre-shadow phase of its upcoming retrograde through Cancer and Leo.  Mercury is known as "the messenger" and rules over the mind, thoughts and communication.  Now in the final degrees of Cancer, sign of emotions and subconscious, right on the heels of Wednesday's meeting with Mars in Cancer conjunct the North Node and opposing the currently retrograde Pluto in Capricorn conjunct the South Node, Mercury hits the point it will reverse back to during its retrograde cycle from July 7th to July 31st.

From Thursday until July 7th, as Mercury makes its initial pass over this retrograde's territory, issues that come up having to do with how we feel safe and nurtured and how we communicate this to others, as well as how we nurture others will be cues for what will be up for review and revision during the retrograde. Cancer is the sign of mother and home.  As Mercury rules the mind, and Cancer the subconscious, we might be becoming more aware of what we need to feel nurtured, safe and secure and beginning to understand that to truly be at "home" is to find that home within ourselves.  Cancer rules emotions and the subconscious and tends to move towards things indirectly - just like a crab moves sideways. Mercury is the planet of thinking and communication.  Another possible theme of this Mercury retrograde would be how consciously we express our emotions.  Mercury's retrograde actually begins in Leo and then will cross back over the cusp turning direct again at its position today near the end of Cancer.  Leo represents creativity and authority and the inner child.  When Leo is expressing its talents from ego rather than source, it is dramatic and self-serving.  When Leo is not in its center, its natural leadership and regal authority becomes petty bossiness fueled by only prideful arrogance.  When the inner child of Leo is neglected, leaving it lacking confidence, left uncertain of its place or its safety, not allowed access to its innate creativity and love of play and unable to shine, it becomes needy, constantly looking outside of itself for validation, needing a never-ending supply of attention to feel "okay".

The morning of Friday June 21st is the summer solstice, and with it we step into a new season.  The solstice serves as an initiation as we enter the rite of passage of July's eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn, bringing us new life, ushering in the transformation necessary for us to survive in this new version of existence.

We are reminded that in this life, we need both the light and the dark, both summer and winter, both feminine and masculine, both rest and action.  Like the caterpillar who follows its instinct to build the cocoon and surrender to transformation when it is urged to and then likewise fights to break free of that same cocoon when that time comes, there is a season for all things in life and each one, each piece, each stage of birth and death and action and rest and creation and destruction is equally necessary and valuable.  But we must take that leap of faith like the fool, placing our trust in our own truth, finding serenity in surrender as we befriend the unknown, finding our comfort in knowing that our inner voice, like the instinct of the caterpillar, will tell us when the time is right for each step along our journey of transformation.  Only then do we find that security of coming home to that home within ourselves.  Only then do we experience the stability and safety found in honoring our truth and surrendering to the journey. Because only then are we able to come into to the authority that is our birthright as co-creators of our experience of life with the Universe and claim the throne of our heart, and rule with wise sovereignty over our world.
