Venus Square Pluto + the Last Quarter Moon Choice Point: May 1st, 2024

If you're looking for lots of connection and the warm-fuzzies, today is probably not your day. 

The good news is, the Aquarius moon helps us be emotionally detached and objective so we can be solution-oriented.

Today, it's not just the last quarter moon choice point in Aquarius causing tension, Venus is also squaring up to Pluto about to station retrograde tomorrow.

Ouch.  

So let's break this down.

The moon in Capricorn and Aquarius can always feel a little cold and hard emotionally (although great for taking care of business) because the moon is the ruler of emotional Cancer, while Saturn rules both Capricorn and Aquarius. 

That means when the moon is transiting Capricorn and Aquarius, it's in foreign territory - the most foreign to its nature.  The moon is about connection, belonging, and emotional security, as is its sign, Cancer.  But Cancer's opposite sign is Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, and the sign after Capricorn, Aquarius, is also strongly associated with Saturn as its traditional ruler.

The moon landed in Capricorn in the wee hours Sunday morning (North America) and now it is in Aquarius until midday tomorrow.

Today, the moon in Aquarius is squaring up to the Taurus sun, creating our last quarter moon choice point - and that means we are likely to feel some sort of resistance or internal conflict coming up - in short, tension or some sort of "don't want" making itself known.

This is the halfway point between last Tuesday's Scorpio full moon square Pluto, and the coming Taurus new moon.

And it's kind of a big deal, because that Scorpio full moon was just SO BIG - it wasn't just that it was in Scorpio, already an intense, deep-diving sign, but it was square ruler Pluto, and it was our first full moon after the eclipse portal.  That's big stuff no matter how you slice it.

And today's last quarter moon is that choice point of the waning moon when we experience the sun, light of consciousness, at an intersection with the moon, the subconscious, and thus become aware of whatever its time to release to move forward with the coming new moon.

While all of this is going on, Venus, also in Taurus just like the sun, is squaring up to Pluto, in Aquarius just like the moon.  You can think of this as a "double-whammy" pitting Taurus energy against Aquarius energy, and the houses or areas of life they rule in your chart.

Whenever we have square aspects (90°) in a chart, we have an intersection of energies that causes forced growth.  We come to a roadblock and need to work something out to move forward.

The sun-moon square is an intersection between our conscious desires and subconscious limiting beliefs or fears, and during the waning moon it is about bringing to consciousness (through the discomfort of feeling the internal conflict) what we need to release in order to move forward.

Venus-Pluto is a bit different.

When we have a Venus-Pluto square, it is likely to show up as power dynamics or control issues in relationships on the surface.  It might show up as emotionally manipulative behavior, or jealousy, or envy, or being suspicious of the other or others.  Maybe it surfaces as being obsessive.  But what's beneath that, is a deeply embedded fear of not being loved or valued.  Not being lovable.  What it really is, is insecurity.

And we've been working on the self-value piece since equinox through the eclipse portal and Mercury retrograde in Aries.

Remember that Venus is ruler of both Libra and Taurus - that means love and money, relationships and resources.  So what's common denominator?  It's value - most importantly, self-value.

If any relationship issues arise today, they are showing you exactly where you need to step more into self-value and take your power back from the idea that you aren't lovable or valuable.

It's not out there, even though on the surface it seems like it.  It's inside you.  As within, so without.  Shift the energy within and everything in your life will come right to match that - it has to, it is energetic law. It's just that it isn't always readily apparent, because much of what's going on is beneath the surface of consciousness.  You have to know what you are looking for and how to work with it.

You already know that trying to control people and situations outside of you doesn't work.  It's just that you haven't been shown what to do instead.
