The Scorpio full moon is exact as I'm writing this. A full moon in Scorpio, square its own ruler Pluto, coming on the heels of an eclipse portal opened by a south node full moon eclipse in Libra has my mind on the Greek myth of Persephone and her abduction by Hades (Pluto).
As the myth goes, Persephone, the kore, or maiden, daughter of the powerful goddess of the harvest, Demeter, was out in a meadow picking narcissists when a great crack in the earth opened up and Hades' chariot pulled by black horses came out and snatched her up, taking her back down into the Underworld. Her mother tries to get her back, but since Persephone has eaten the pomegranate seeds, her fate is sealed. She spends six months of the year with her mother, Demeter - summer, and the other six months of the year with Hades as the queen of the Underworld, during which Demeter mourns - winter. Persephone's abduction actually ends up being a catalyst for her coming into her own power as Queen of the Underworld. In fact, because she rules the Underworld, she becomes the most powerful goddess - even more powerful than her great mother. Persephone becomes a guide for souls lost in the Underworld. Some even go so far to say the myth is documenting the change in society from a more matriarchal culture to a patriarchal culture. They assert that Hades abducted Persephone because he had asked Demeter for her hand in marriage and she had refused, and he actually needed Persephone to officially secure his throne. This idea comes from the historical documentation of cultures before this being more goddess-focused than god-focused. All of a sudden there is a shift in society from matriarchal to patriarchal happening, but the beliefs of the people were still biased to the goddess. This only adds to the idea that Persephone was immensely more powerful than she knew, overshadowed by her mother until she found herself alone fending for herself in the Underworld. Then and only then did she find her power and claim her true throne. And how often in today's modern world do women find themselves in a relationship that forces them to realize their real power and reclaim their inner throne? How many of these women grew up in the shadow of a mother who felt over protective, overpowering, overwhelming, or domineering? Maybe this is you. If so, it's time to reclaim the throne of your heart and step into your full power. If you're ready to take this journey, I am here to guide you.
