Dec. 21st ~ Happy Solstice!

Today at 14:48 (MST) the sun enters Capricorn, marking both solstice and the beginning of Capricorn season, which this year is promising us extra magic.

So let's break down how to access this magic....

Here's what you need to know:
  1. Sun into Capricorn in the northern hemisphere marks the beginning of winter, the shortest day and longest night of the year, and the return of the light. It's a major turning point on the wheel of the year, a gateway, and a potent time of initiation. This is like the "new moon" of the solar year, and now is the time to set our intentions for the coming six months - from now until summer solstice, which is our solar climax.
  2. Capricorn is Saturn-ruled earth and LOVES realistic, practical, well-thought out action plans. Now is the time to not just make intentions, but then take it a step further and make SMART goals and map it out baby step by baby step on the calendar. The Capricorn energy helps us foundation and structure long-term projects that are "built to last."
  3. For Capricorn season, we have Pluto, Venus, Mercury, and sun all in Capricorn. Mercury is retrograde 12/29 to 1/18, and its extra special because we are processing mentally Pluto in Cap from 2012 to 2022 as Mercury, ruler of the mind, backs over the degrees Pluto was at during those years. First Venus, then sun, then finally Mercury on 2/11 will make their final conjunctions to Pluto in Capricorn for about 280 years, and this is also Mercury's final retrograde for that long with Pluto there. This is helping us prepare for Pluto's big move to Aquarius at the end of March, and because of that, this entire year is going to be big on helping us evolve and transform and fully step into the new. (Pluto has been in Cap since 2008 and will be in Aqua until 2044, so this is a HUGE energetic shift. Also mid-March Saturn moves into Pisces - its been in Aqua since March 2020 - think COVID, and Mars, which has been in Gemini for 4x its normal stay, since 8/20 will move into Cancer. This combo makes for big shifts in our lives in March and now is the time to do the prep work - we need to be on board with any processing and letting go and flowing with these changes rather than resisting them starting NOW. What house does Cap rule in your chart? What came up for you between 2012 and 2022? What is it time to let go of? What are you moving away from and toward? Get specific and be the change.)
  4. We've had some tough times over the past few years with Pluto and Saturn together in Cap and lots of challenging aspects at play. It may have felt like nonstop stuckness, frustration, restriction, and in general hard times. This is the "business end" of Saturn/Capricorn, made more challenging by Pluto's presence. But that's over, and now it's time to take what we've learned and use it. It's time to access the gifts of this energy and transform and transcend. To the Romans, Saturn was a harvest god - it's all about showing up so we can get what we want, what we need, what we value, in the 3D world - like food. But notice that the emblem for Capricorn is not actually a mountain goat, but a sea goat - the only mythical creature in the zodiac. And its highest expression is actually the unicorn - a single point of light. This isn't just about mundane drudgery - there is magic to be found here. In ancient Sumeria, Capricorn was associated with their god of wisdom, Enki, and sweetwater. This was one of the first cultures to create irrigation canals to their crops and cities so there was free-flowing water, creating an oasis in their dry and arid climate. Capricorn isn't just earth energy - it's water energy too. It's the kind of energy that helps civilizations flourish and brings abundance that supports life. So tap into this magic when working with the Capricorn energy this solstice and Capricorn season and setting your intentions and mapping goals for the coming six months.
