Using the Emotion Code

The Emotion Code is a technique developed by chiropractor Dr. Bradley Nelson to identify and clear trapped emotions.

His book, The Emotion Code, originally published in 2007, explains the process in detail.  There are also professional Emotion Code practitioners that offer sessions.
This process is also quite easily used as a tool for self-awareness and clearing emotions in the moment as they arise, and this is my preferred way to use it.  Using it day to day, moment to moment, helped me develop a better relationship to my emotions and helped me to understand them better.  This gave me clarity around my triggers as well.  Using the Emotion Code on myself every day, as many times a day as things came up, allowed me to gain more self-awareness than scheduling with a practitioner.  I was able to begin to connect the dots between vague reactions like resistance and shutting down to the underlying emotions driving the reactive behavior patterns.
The process is simple.  When something comes up like feeling blocked, stuck, in resistance, anxiety, fear, etc., just use the chart and muscle testing to work through it.
There are many forms of muscle testing but the one I was shown is done by making a fist with one hand and placing the other hand over it and pressing.  Firm resistance is a "yes," and no resistance is a "no."

The Process:
  1. Do I have a trapped emotion that can be cleared right now?
  2. Is this trapped emotion in Column A or B?
  3. Is this trapped emotion in an odd row?
  4. If yes, ask is this trapped emotion in Row 1? (Continue until you find the row that is a yes.)
  5. If no, ask is this trapped emotion in Row 2? (Continue until you find the row that is a yes.)
  6. Once you have identified the column and row, go down the list of emotions and see which ones test positive.
  7. Clear by running a magnet or your fingertips in an arc over the top of your head from tip of nose to back of neck three times (over what is known in acupuncture as "the governing meridian").

In this Youtube video Dr. Nelson goes through the process step by step.
